New orders for manufactured goods in April, up two of the last three
months, increased $4.9 billion or 1.0 percent to $474.0 billion, the
U.S. Census Bureau reported on wednesday. This followed a 4.7 percent
March decrease. Excluding transportation, new orders decreased 0.1
percent.
